Lots of phone calls today trying to catch up from last week. We had an appointment with a Gastroenterologist recently as Henry has ongoing issues with his tummy and eating. He seemed to think he might have a sensory processing issue with food which is why he struggles with eating certain textures and it makes him sick (apparently he can’t live off fruit puree and crisps forever π³). So, another visit with the Speech and Language therapist arranged and then the Dietician again to see how we can help him π x
Lowerys receive Helen Rollason award for Bradley at BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2017
We just watched Gemma and Carl Lowery on BBC SPOTY going to collect an award on behalf of Bradley. So touching & we’re so upset that we’ll never get to meet him to say thank you for supporting our Henry π x
Henry kindly shares his virus!
Sorry for the silence! Henry has been kind enough to share his bout of Norovirus with all of us and I can’t tell you how grim it is in the Alderson household at the moment. An inevitable side effect of far too many hospital appointments but less than ideal! Doing wonders for my diet though π and Henry seems to be over the worst of it which is reassuring. None of us are in a fit state for s pboto so we though we might share a picture of the only one of us currently unaffected…πΆπ
Sick, literally
Not many weekend updates because we’ve been drowning in toddler puke π€’π. Poor boy has still got a cold and has been projectile vomming everything he’s eaten since Saturday night. We were supposed to have another hospital appointment with our Addenbrookes consultant yesterday but there’s no way we were going to make it. Because of his weak immune system we have to take him to the hospital any time he gets a temperature (yes, really π€) so we’re really hoping it doesn’t come to that π€ x
A quick hospital update
Tired and a bit grumpy before blood, loving life afterwards! Transfusion no.31 last week, our Addenbrookes consultant requested for Henry to get more blood than usual to try and stop his levels from dropping so low before his next one. Meant we were in for a little longer than usual but all good and if it works it’ll be well worth it. If not we might have to go back to having blood every three weeks instead of fourΒ (not ideal but we’ll see how we go) x
A chance to win a great gift for Xmas! (For good causes)

At present they are helping 9 children for this particular campaign. Henry being one of them!!!!
They have a fantastic raffle ongoing at the moment, a signed Canvas of some of the Sunderland Association FC players.
For a chance to win this fantastic prize, please click on this link to enter and follow the online instructions.
Many thanks xx
We are grateful to our blood donors but…
Whilst we love the fact that donated blood keeps Henry alive, We really don’t love all the extra iron it puts into his body! This is our fourth week on the new pumps (which are amazing compared to the old one btw) but Henry still absolutely hates the needle going in. Who can blame the poor boy! It makes me feel terrible putting it in every night but it’s the only thing that’ll protect his organs from the damage of the iron overload. So hard to watch him struggle though π xx
Transfusion Day!
Transfusion day! Can’t come soon enough, he’s had a lingering cold so hopefully this will make him feel better and give him the energy to fight it off π€x
We have a very exciting announcement…
We have a very exciting announcement…we’ve been speaking to a lovely lady called Rebecca who works for the company installing the offshore Galloper Wind Farm off the coast of Clacton on sea. She has managed to organise a donation of a Β£150 Milsom voucher for us to give away at our next fundraising event!!!! This is such a generous gesture and it will make a brilliant prize for someone, thank you Rebecca and all involved with Galloper ππ. Our good friend Annie Fantango Farthing has kindly offered to host another event for us in February so stay tuned x
Huge thank you to JD Wetherspoon in Harwich
Huge thank you to all at The Bottle Kiln – JD Wetherspoon for a brilliant quiz last night. We had such a good time and over Β£300 was raised to go towards Henry’s treatment, amazing! X
