A quick update

We’ve noticed we’ve got quite a few new followers over the past few weeks so we just wanted so say hi, thank you and tell you a bit more about what we’re doing.

Lots of people ask us about the IVF, so here’s a little update. We need a special type of IVF which is called PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis) with PTT (preimplantation tissue typing). This means we’ll go through the usual steps of IVF with some added extras, so that each embryo will be screened for Diamond Blackfan Anameia and also screened to determine their ’tissue type’ (special markers on cells called antigens). If the embryo doesn’t have DBA and is also a matching tissue type for Henry, it could be implanted in the hope of a pregnancy. After Baby Alderson no.2 is born, the umbilical cord would be saved and frozen instead of thrown away, then the stem cells would be taken from the cord and used to give Henry his stem cell transplant. This is all super complicated and takes a long time! It’s also very expensive, each cycle costs approximately £15k.

All of this means a special license has to be granted and there’s only a handful of places in the UK that are able to obtain this, so all of our treatment will be in London. Our first appointment is next month.

I will try and post updates of our IVF journey every day although Henry does keep me busy so bear with me! X

Local business Rallysport Automotive & Que Automotive make us their Charity of the year!

Ta-dah!

We are so chuffed to announce that the lovely lot at Rallysport Automotive have chosen us as their Charity of the Year. They will be helping to raise Henry’s profile amongst the local community and also raising money for us too. We can’t say how grateful and excited we are, we are all such huge car fans in this family so this couldn’t be more perfect! Special thank you to Charlotte and Sam who have done so much work behind the scenes already to make this happen and to Que Automotive for their generosity in helping out too. Hurrah! X

Below is the press release issued today by Rallysport Automotive –

It is with great pleasure that we can announce Rallysport Automotive’s Charity of the year!

“Henry’s Little Heroes”

Henry, 2, is a local boy, whom from the outside looks like any other child his age, but he is the only person in the world with his combination of genetic disorder’s. Henry suffers from Diamond Blackfan Anaemia and is at high risk of developing blood cancer. Henry has to have monthly blood transfusions to keep him alive.

Henry’s best chance of guaranteeing a future will be through a stem cell transplant. Doctors will only carry out this procedure if the stem cells come from a sibling with matching cells to Henry.

Rallysport Automotive’s main aim is to not only raise funds for Henry, but also raise awareness of “Henry’s Little Heroes”

We will be creating various fundraising events through the year and asking for fundraising help from our contacts.

Our friends at Que Automotive have guaranteed to contribute a small amount from the sale of each car during the month of May, (once they settle into their fantastic new site). A massive thank you from all of us at Rallysport for the donation.

For more information or for updates keep an eye on Henry’s Little Heroes -Facebook page for more information about Henry.

We would like to thank all the charities that applied, as each had a very very worth while cause.

For the love of Dinosaurs

Henry’s heavily into dinosaurs at the moment and loves to do a veloceraptor impression, complete with roaring! He’s still under the weather, he was sick this morning and then slept for three hours but perked up this afternoon. Fingers crossed it won’t cause him too much trouble. We’ve got some very exciting news coming later this week so keep an eye out x

The drugs DO work

Transfusion number 32 done! Henry kept himself busy with some of his ‘beads of courage’, he gets one every time he has a procedure and he loves playing with them. He’s got so many already, I’m not sure how we’ll lift them soon! But it’s a lovely way of marking his bravery and a little keepsake for the future. We had some really encouraging news too, his latest blood test showed that his ferritin (iron) levels have gone from 3600 to 2600 since starting the daily pump! We’ve got some way to go as we’re aiming for the low hundreds, but it makes it much easier putting him through the needles each night knowing it’s helping him  x

Happy New Year! Thanks to your donations we have our 1st appointment but we’re not done yet

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! It’s been a positive end to this year with our first IVF appointment booked in for the start of February. I got this cushion for Christmas and it made me think about how you’ve all contributed to our ‘golden ticket’ and enabled us to get the IVF underway, thank you so much, this is only possible because of all of you. However, there’s only a 10% success rate per cycle so the odds are stacked and we will likely need more help. If you’re making any resolutions this year, please consider raising some money for us. Charity runs, bike rides, coffee mornings, anything you can think of! We have a charity number now, courtesy of the Bradley Lowery Foundation, so businesses can get involved too.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2018 xxx

A lovely surprise at Christmas

Whilst on dog walking duties with Daddy today, I was successfully captured by the police helicopter! 🏃‍♂️🚔🚁

The kind police man pilot allowed me to sit in the cockpit, until I started flipping switches 😂 (no joke 😯).

The vital duties of a police helicopter crew can be interrupted from time to time when the call of nature comes around. Yes that was the actual reason for landing on the rugby club pitch!

Some great news

Despite a minor hand cream incident 🤔, today has been a good day! Had the results of Henry’s last liver biopsy and in their words, they’re “not too bad”! They use a scale ranging from 0-6 (good to bad) to determine liver scarring and Henry’s currently sitting at 2. They said that if we carry on with the nightly pumps and they work for him, the scarring that’s there should be reversible! We won’t know if they’re working for a few months yet but we’re cautiously optimistic🤞💪💓
